Our Policies and Guidelines
Safeguarding Children Policy
This policy relates to protecting children and young adults up to age 18 from any form of abuse. It gives advice on types and signs of abuse. It sets out practices and procedures contributing to the prevention of abuse of children, and a course of action to be followed if abuse is suspected. It gives liaison details for the statutory agencies who must be contacted. There is also a Child Protection code of conduct which all teachers and leaders of activities at NBC or Gt. Yarmouth group need to sign.
Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policy
A vulnerable adult is a person aged 18 years or over who is unable to protect him/herself from harm or exploitation because of mental or other disability, age or illness. The policy sets out practices and procedures contributing to the prevention of abuse of vulnerable adults. It also sets out a course of action to be followed if abuse is suspected. It also gives advice on types and signs of abuse.
Managing Sex and Violent Offenders
This policy is aimed at reducing and managing the risk presented by sexual or violent offenders who may come to Triratna activities. It gives the procedures for liaison with statutory agencies and for setting up a formal contract with the person to manage any risk. It also covers the issue of confidentiality.
These guidelines are organised around the five precepts and give both general principles of ethical behaviour for those running and supporting activities and one or two specific applications especially around relationships.
This policy applies to any complaint raised against a trustee, employee or person leading and supporting activities arranged through Norwich Buddhist Centre and Gt. Yarmouth Triratna Group. It gives a process to be followed.
