Silent Meditation Morning online with Vajraguptā

Closer to Nature, Closer to Reality

Buddhism points out that we have six sense consciousnesses: those of the eye, ear, tongue, nose, body and mind. Mostly it is mind that we give most attention to, in particular our thoughts and emotional states. As a consequence, we rarely give sufficient attention to our other bodily consciousnesses. This means that we rarely have a holistic sense of ourselves or the world around us. We’ve probably noticed how, when we have time to be in nature, we have a much fuller experience of ourselves. We may even feel like we ‘lose’ our fixed sense of self as we become absorbed into the beauty of the natural world: its sounds, textures and fragrances and even tastes, when we chew a blade of grass or a leaf of mint. Join me for a morning of meditation and a short talk, looking at a poem from a poet who has a deep spiritual connection with nature.
