Parinirvana Day Festival
Sunday February 18, doors open 9.45am for 10.15 start – 3.30pm
Led by Saroja, Sinhadakini, Paramabandhu, Maitrisingha
Parinirvana Day, celebrating the Buddha’s passing two and a half thousand years ago, is an opportunity for us to reflect on the Buddha’s teachings about impermanence and the preciousness of our own lives. The day will include meditation, reflection, discussion and ritual. A highlight will be a talk by our President Paramabandhu who will be with us on this weekend.
The afternoon will begin with a remembrance ritual where the names of people close to us who have died in the past year will be read out in a meditative atmosphere. If you would like to remember someone in this way, you can add their names to the list on the day and you are also invited to bring their photo to place on the shrine. This will be followed by a festival day puja.
All are welcome to come to this special event. By donation but please book.
