‘Being’ Meditation

We usually think of meditation as something we ‘do’: An activity that we have to make an effort for and that we sometimes don’t feel like doing. Do we ever consider that it’s not meditation that’s difficult but the ‘doing’ of it? When we ‘do’ meditation, we divide our experience into ‘me’ the subject; the ‘doing’ (an action); and meditation (a technique, an object). ‘Being’ meditation means coming into an intimate relationship with oneself. Courageously opening to all the confused parts of ourselves as we are. We’re experts at criticising ourselves – seeing ourselves as not good enough and then making effort to improve. Join me for a short talk and meditations which may help point us towards ‘being’ meditation.
