Sangha Day Festival 2025

‘Dare – Act – Love’: Friendship, Teams and Work as Practice

Doors open at 9.45am for a 10am prompt start

On Sangha Day we invite you to come together to celebrate our own spiritual community at Norwich Buddhist Centre in all its warmth, vibrancy and opportunity.

This year we are delighted that Padmadaka will give a keynote talk on how to integrate spiritual practice into our working lives.  He draws on 25 years of experience which includes many years as CEO of the Karuna Trust and now as CEO of a local charity. The talk will delve into the distinctions and overlaps between ‘Work as Practice,’ the concept of Right Livelihood as taught in the Noble Eightfold Path, and Team-Based Right Livelihood as defined by Sangharakshita. Padmadaka will also reflect on the dynamics of teamwork, both within the spiritual community and in general, giving us an opportunity to consider how our work can become a rich and vital part of the Buddhist path.

We will also be celebrating and focusing on friendship and working together in teams. Working in teams is a cornerstone of our movement in providing opportunity for growing, learning as people and co-operating in community and friendship with others. Not all of us can work in a team-based right livelihood but we can all have a taste of what it means by working in a team at the Centre. We’re hoping that working in teams is something which will develop more over the coming year and we’ll be letting you know some new opportunities for this.

We’re also going to launch a new community online space to support teams and the Sangha in general (we think you’re going to love it).

Then after some discussion, lunch and other fun, we will celebrate and witness a Mitra Ceremony for people who are taking a special step in expressing their confidence in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

Please bring vegan/vegetarian lunch to share and please bring cake to celebrate.
