The Buddha advised and was revered by kings. At this moment in the nation’s history of a king’s coronation, we thought it would be interesting to look at what the Buddha said to kings (and queens). In the morning, we will hear and discuss stories from the Pali Canon and other sources about the Buddha talking to kings. It’s also a special moment for our Sangha, as in the afternoon we will be celebrating the mitra ceremonies of six people:
James Mildren, Sean Kent, ja da vi, Heidi Moore, Melpo Economou, Isabelle McKinnell
We have so much to rejoice in at this full moon time. We have our annual festival to rejoice in and contemplate the Buddha’s enlightenment and teaching as well as the ever-widening circle of those who have found the teaching, are inspired by it and wish to follow it. A cause for celebration indeed!
