Dharma Day 2025

Six weeks after celebrating Shakyamuni Buddha’s Enlightenment in May, at the full moon in July we’ll be celebrating the Buddha’s Turning of the Wheel of the Dharma. That is to say, when he first communicated his experience to others.

The day’s events will be hosted by Bodhivajra. There will be a talk from Satyadaka in the morning, and Sammudita will lead a Dhammapada puja in the afternoon.
This day-long festival will be happening at Viryashalin’s field (much gratitude to him), near Holt in North Norfolk. A lovely location. We have a large marquee for the event which can accommodate more people than our Centre, so this is a great opportunity for lots of us to gather together for shared practice and meeting/making friends. We’re expecting two visitors from Triratna Tokyo to arrive in time for lunch and the afternoon – let’s give them a great taste of a Triratna festival! This will be their first experience of Triratna outside of Japan, and is the start of their UK tour.

Schedule for Dharma Day:

  • Arrive from 9.30am
  • 10.15am – 1pm – Morning session (please write your favourite Dharma quote on a piece of blue card, to present to the shrine during the opening ritual)
  • 2-4pm – Afternoon session
  • 4pm – Shared activity, packing up
Important notes for the day
  • Please bring your own meditation gear or a folding chair if you are able, as there will only be a limited number of mats and cushions available
  • Please try and avoid arriving during a session, so as to minimise vehicle noise.
  • Please bring vegan lunch and cakes to share. Try and avoid single-use plastic.
  • Please bring a mug with you for hot drinks if possible
  • You are welcome to bring your children and enjoy the day with them. For safeguarding reasons, you will need to supervise them at all times.

* Dharma is the blue jewel, but let’s also think green ☘️ * The earth is precious and Viryashalin’s field is precious. Lets show respect and reduce our impact on the land by car-sharing wherever possible, or travelling by bike – an act of generosity. Dharma wheels or car wheels, car-field or buddha field? It’s up to us….

Hosted by Viryasalin at Townsends Pightle, Holt Road, Thornage, Holt, NR25 7QB – see below for directions.

We want to minimise the number of cars used on the day. If you are planning to drive without any passengers, please consider offering or requesting a lift.

If you need a lift or can offer a lift, please let us know in the ‘Any Other Info’ section of your booking.
