Mens Buddhist Workshop – At the Centre

Something different for this month’s Men’s Buddhist Workshop.

In the Buddha’s time there was no written dharma.  His followers listened to his teaching and memorized it.  Many years later it was written down into what we now call suttas and sutras.

Luckily we don’t have to memorise everything these days but there is something special about just listening to the Buddha’s teaching without reading along, taking notes or waiting to offer our response.

In this special meet for the end of the year, we will be listening to some excerpts from the Pali Canon that tell us about the Buddha’s life and teaching. After each section we will have the time and opportunity to absorb and reflect on the reading.

At the end of the morning, we will have a Threefold Puja as a way of reflecting on and valuing what the Buddha offered so long ago.

Of course, for us to listen, someone needs to read.  If you would like to read, contact Tim in advance so that we can co-ordinate and prepare.  mrbadger2000@gmail.com

Our January workshop will be led by Maitripa.   He lives and works at Padmaloka as part of the team that runs the retreat centre.  He’s a really joyful and clear minded practitioner and will lead a cracking workshop.
