Selected Suttas from the Pali Cannon

You will already have met some of the Buddha’s teachings from the Pāli Canon in earlier modules. The Pāli Canon, as it is called, contains all the texts written in Pāli, the language that comes closest to that which the Buddha himself would have spoken. It contains the earliest known records of the Buddha’s teaching which were originally preserved as an oral tradition and only written down several centuries after the Buddha’s Parinibbāna.
