Parinirvana Day – A Festival of Remembering and Rejoicing
This is the day when we reflect on the Buddha’s passing into nirvana, as well as reflecting on our own death and the death of our loved ones. Reflecting on death benefits our mind. When we acknowledge finitude—of our capacity, our energy, our time—we bring into focus what is most important. Not at some point in the future. Right now.
The day will include an introductory talk, puja, meditation, and advice from The Tibetan Book of the Dead, as well as time for discussion. We’ll finish with a drummed reflection.
If you would like to bring a photo of your loved ones (human or otherwise) who have died in the last year, there will be an opportunity during a ritual to place your picture on the shrine and their names will be read aloud.
All are welcome to come to this special event. By donation but please book.
Please bring a vegetarian contribution for a shared lunch.
Doors open at 9.30 for a 10.00 prompt start in the shrine room.
Note for Order Members: There will be an order meditation at 8.00 am followed by breakfast together. (Please bring your own)
