On this Festival Day we will be celebrating our Sangha, or spiritual community. We are drawn together on this day by our shared response to the Buddha’s teachings and by the practice of those teachings in our own lives.
In the morning, as well as meditating, we shall be hearing three short talks from members of our community, drawing on their personal experience of Sangha. We will then have an opportunity for an experience of our own, in a special workshop activity. This will be followed by a brief review of our Centre over the last year and launch of the Centre’s theme for the coming year, which is Buddhism and the Imagination. It has been said that Imagination is a faculty we all have. It is also something we can develop. It is a mode of perception, ultimately, a way of perceiving how things really are. A year may not be long enough to explore this theme in its fullness!
In the afternoon there will be introductions of the people who are about to become Mitras, followed by a puja which will include their Mitra Ceremonies. On this occasion, there is a bumper group of Mitras-to-be, so come along to add your voice of welcome, and please bring some cake!
