Think. Act. Live. – Creating a beautiful mind in a world on fire
ㅤ
A Six-week Buddhism Course at the Norwich Buddhist Centre
Suitable for Beginners and Regulars
Even in the Buddha’s day it seemed that the world was on fire and the Buddha’s teaching used the metaphor of how to get people out of the ‘burning house.’
In contrast, Buddhism teaches us that it is possible to create a peaceful, loving world. But there is a lot to do. It starts with us, with our own mind, heart and how we are being in the world.
So in this course, we will go from the inside out and consider how our actions of body, speech and mind create our world and that of others. We call this ethics.
In this six week course, we’ll be looking at lots of practical ways for us to explore the positive mental effects of living ethically. We’ll be examining how Buddhist ethics is not about following rules or conventions, but about responding in creative and surprising ways to the situations that we find ourselves in, as well as speaking clearly, directly, and bravely in our interactions with others.
The course will reveal how the sometimes overlooked practice of Buddhist ethics is actually key to a rich, alive experience, deeper insight, wisdom, and living a truly fulfilled existence.
The course will be based on Subhadramati’s book, ‘Not About Being Good: A Practical Guide to Buddhist Ethics’ which you can buy as a paperback or e-book from Windhorse Publications.
This course is suitable for those new to Buddhism or meditation, as well as experienced practitioners who have completed courses with us before. It will include meditation tasters and reflection, suitable for beginners and regulars.
